Andrew Thompson is Resident Choreographer for 7dancers and is also a large part of the dance faculty at Cherry Creek Dance. He was with Colorado Ballet for 18 years where he was Principal Dancer, Resident Choreographer and Regisseur. Prior to coming to Colorado, Mr. Thompson was Principal Dancer and Ballet Master with the Minnesota Dance Theater where he taught Ballet and Contemporary Dance for the Minnesota Dance Theater School. Widely recognized as a prolific and elegant choreographer, Mr. Thompson, along with his wife, Jocelyn Labsan, has staged major ballet works around the U.S. for renowned choreographers Christopher Wheeldon, Septime Weber and Loyce Houlton. Dance Theater of Harlem, Atlanta Ballet, Omaha Ballet, Alberta Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, and Columbia City Ballet are some of the companies that have showcased his work. As a dancer, Mr. Thompson includes the following as his favorite roles: Billy the Kid; Nutcracker Prince, Cavalier, Arabian and Drosselmayer in Nutcracker; Romeo and Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet; Albrecht in Giselle; Dr. Coppelius in Coppelia; and leads in many of Loyce Houlton’s original contemporary ballets in Minnesota. He specializes in ballet, and partnering, boys classes and occasionally contemporary ballet.
